OUR BACKGROUND
Ellershaw House is registered to provide residential social and personal care for up to 12 adults with learning disabilities in a therapeutic environment, which, along with other therapies offers riding, horticulture and arts & crafts. Riding and care of the horses is integral to the culture of the home.
It is our aim to support people in, making new friends and enjoying current friendships and relationships, to have a good community presence and do our part for our local community, to be active and healthy and to enjoy life in its full potential, achieving our life goals. We network with several great local organisations such as Ripon Community Link and Walled Garden Project, Jennyruth Workshops, Hackfall Café and several businesses in the Ripon and local area.
Advanced and specialist training is provided to all staff (including housekeepers & secretaries) from accredited training organisations to allow them to deliver a high level of care to a range of specialist needs such as diabetes, epilepsy, dietary issues and challenging behaviour.
We are located in the countryside near the villages of Kirkby Malzeard and Grewelthorpe, the nearest small town is Masham and the nearest larger towns are Ripon and Harrogate, all within Nidderdale’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Ellershaw House was originally a farm and to the outsider we still look like a farm as we maintain 14 acres of land for the horses and for access to our students.
